16th Annual Festival of Quilts, 2011

Heritage Park Historical Village, late 19th and  20th Century Alberta.

The Prince House built in 1894, originally built at 238, 4th Ave. SW, Calgary.  Peter Prince reportedly designed his home from plans of a Connecticut house published in the Nov. 1893 issue of Scientific American, Architects and Builders Edition.

Queen Anne Style, three storeys with a tower, 3,300 square feet, parlor, dinning room, kitchen, 8 bedrooms, Servant's quarters, and the modern convenience of hot water heating.

In the parlor of the Prince house, the park had a lady in period wear playing the piano along side the quilts.

At the Hospital, am I ever glad things have moved forward in the medical world! Ouch! 

I thought that this monster quilt looked perfect on this patient hospital bed.

The Burnside Ranch House and Har Rack, built in 1887 by Ewsin Donald Mckay. The house was named Burnside because of the creek or burn which ran though it. This ranch was located in Grandvalley, west of Cochrane, AB.

This homespun piggy quilt was my favorite quilt of all! Just adorable!

The baby animals at the Ranch House were sew cute! 

This Mum was very busy talking to her babies! Very sweet.

Journey of A Quilter, the embroidery on this quilt was incredible! I have all the BOMs to this quilt so I am now inspired to get started.

 I made these super cute floral arrangements for Mother's Day, one for myself and one for my Mom, ha, ha. It looked so sweet I had to make one for my kitchen! 

 If your Mom or Grandma loves to cook or bake this gift will be perfect to brighten up her kitchen!

Sweet Kitchen Floral Arrangement Recipe:

1 bunch spring flowers

1 pyrex measuring cup (2 cup size)

cute ribbon

1 large spatula

1 small spatula or pastry brush (plastic handle is best since it will be emersed in water)

wet floral foam 

floral wire

Soak floral foam for 30 minutes in a sink full of cool water.  Cut foam to fit the measuring cup. Make a loopy bow out of the ribbon, wrap floral wire around the bow and attach to the spatula, push the handle into the foam slightly off to the side.  Cut the flowers short and arrange to cover the floral foam. That's it, your done!  Your could add a cute gift tag and attach it to the handle. Add fresh water every couple days to keep flowers looking fresh.
